Treating Insomnia with Buteyko Breathing

What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time.

Cause of Insomnia

Considering Buteyko theory, insomnia occurs when you generally breathe too much, causing CO2 levels to lower and restricting oxygen delivery thoughout day and night. The overbreathing leads to various factors keeping you awake: mental stress, frequent urination, high pulse, etc.

When you overbreathe and oxygen is in low supply, the body and mind become unbalanced so that several things can go wrong and disturb your sleep: High resting pulse, strong heart beat, frequent urination, mental stress, etc, etc.

Prof. Buteyko's approach to reverting insomnia is a gradual process that leads to solid results. Over the course of 1 month, the quality of your sleep gradually improves.
